What Merit System: I Transform into Erlang Shen is about
Desperate to save his dying mother, a poor worker is betrayed when his ruthless ex steals his ancestral mask. But his spilled blood awakens a warrior god within him, opening a celestial third eye. Channeling ancient ritual power, he exorcises restless ghosts and tames legendary beasts alongside newfound allies.
It runs 65 short episodes on iDrama and leans on revenge and second chance tropes, with each episode ending on a hook.
Is it worth watching?
The draw here is the slow build to a payback that lands hard. On top of that: a lead who knows how it went wrong last time and plays it differently.
At roughly 1–2 hours in total, it's quicker to finish than most full-length series.
